Restoran Mum's Place (Damansara Perdana)

For those whom miss your mum's cooking in your hometown, maybe you should visit this restaurant! Obviously from the shop name Mum's place, you will be able to taste homecooked food like how your mum cooks it. This restaurant is located at Damansara Perdana, those not familiar with the area, don't worry, I will share the location at the end of the post. They have some signature dishes like sambal petai with prawns, asam fish, old school fried egg/ omelet etc....

First, let's have a look at the environment. The place is very cozy and comfortable. The whole place were illuminated by soft yellow light. It's like going into a romantic restaurant for homecooked food. They decorated the place really well, can see that they really put in a lot of effort to decorate the place. Look at the wall decorations, I believe many items are the owner's own collections.

What interest me was the hall of fame. There are photos of the owner with the famous people whom visited the restaurant, they framed it nicely then hang it inside the hall of fame. You will be surprised which are the rich and famous people visited the place. They also have a private area to cater for a small gathering of yours.

Let's have a look at the food now! Let's start with my favourite dish, guess what is it?

It is non other than the sambal petai prawns. What do I like about this dish? The sambal's taste is exactly like how my mum cooked it! Maybe my mum and the cook is far relatives or from same hometown... haha, just kidding. But, the serving of the petai is rather less... I do understand petai is very expensive and troublesome on the preparations, just hope they could serve more.....

The next signature dish would be the asam fish. Mum's Place specialises in spicy fare and they include Cencaru Fish with Chilli Padi Paste and Petai, Lemak Kuning Jenahak Fish or Assam Pedas Parit Jawa, Prawns Sambal Petai, Portuguese Devil Chicken Curry, Fried Jenahak Fish with Mum’s Belacan, Bawal Hitam with Sambal, Lemak Kuning Prawns, Tom Yam Udang Galah and Lemak Kuning Fish Head.

If you prefer something less fiery, opt for the Udang Galah Yee Mee or Kueh Teow, Smoked Chicken, Fried Bawal Hitam with ginger strips, Pan-fried Large Butter Garlic Tiger Prawns, Fried Soft Shell Crabs, Beef Stir-fried with Spring Onions and Ginger and Honey Chicken.

Let's have a look at other dishes.

There are old school fried foo yong egg/ omelete (芙蓉蛋), brinjal, cencaru fish. Not forgetting the dessert after the meal, the cendol with red beans paste and also the Sago gula Melaka. The traditional ABC, mango pudding with ice cream and pulut tekan kaya is also available.

The menu is available on Mum's place official website. You may visit www.mumsplace.com.my
